Palisades Federal Credit Union recently announced it will once again be awarding college scholarships to high school seniors in the Rockford area. Student members will have the opportunity to win up to three scholarships by submitting just one application. One of the scholarship opportunities, offered by the Credit Union Association of New York, will pit student applicants from Palisades Federal Credit Union against other student members from credit unions around the state of New York. Last year, this scholarship program awarded over $12,000 in college funds.
In addition to the statewide college scholarship competition, applicants will also be competing regionally for the Westchester/Rockland Credit Union chapter’s four scholarships valued at $2,000 as well as locally among Palisades Federal Credit Union members for a variety of scholarships totaling over $3,000.
In order to be eligible for these scholarships, students must be college-bound high school seniors planning on attending an accredited college for the first time in the fall of 2012 and members of the New York Credit Union. Representatives from the Credit Union Association of New York will act as judges for the scholarship competition. Applicants will be judged on their academic achievements, extracurricular and community activities, and the overall quality of their written essay. Scholarship recipients will be announced in the second quarter of 2012.

This scholarship opportunity provides Rockland County students an excellent opportunity to receive some much needed funding to help cover their college education. Scholarship applications can be downloaded from the Credit Union’s website www.palisadesfcu.org and turned in at any of the Credit Union’s Rockland County branches or submitted via mail. All applications must be submitted before January 20, 2012.
