Jones International University was founded by Glenn R. Jones whose firm believe that education should be available to everyone and everywhere formed this school to follow these beliefs. It was through a cable magnate, that Glenn R. Jones was capable of reaching 30,000 students from more than 30 colleges and universities via television with an education in 1987. With the great potential of the internet, Jones started JIU in 1993 as the first university anywhere to exist completely online. With great pride, JIU also became the first fully online university in the U.S. to be accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, and a member of the North Central Association.
