The Golden LEAF Foundation recently announced it is now accepting applications for the 2012-13 Golden LEAF Foundation scholarship program. The program will award 215 college scholarships to help students pay for their college tuition at participating institutions. The scholarships will be worth $12,000 total, with each qualified student receiving $3,000 per year. The funds can only be used at participating North Carolina campuses and are funding by a grant from the Foundation.
To be eligible, students must be enrolled in a North Carolina private or public high school during the 2011-2012 academic school year. Students attending a North Carolina community college, degree-seeking freshmen or transfer from a North Carolina community college at one of the fifty seven qualifying public universities or private colleges in North Carolina are also eligible to apply for the scholarship.
Interested students must submit a Golden LEAF Scholarship application, available at www.CFNC.org/goldenleaf, a FAFSA form, current high school or community college transcript by March 1st, 2012. Students may also learn more information about the scholarship program by visiting the financial aid office at their local community college. The Golden LEAF Foundation was created in 1999 to help transform North Carolina’s economy. The Foundation works in conjunction with government entities, economic development groups, nonprofits, and educational institutions to meet its goals. Since its inception, the Golden LEAF Foundation has awarded over 1,100 grants worth more than $479 million. This recent donation to the Golden LEAF Scholarship program will be put to good use as it will help a large number of students meet their goal of earning a college degree.
