Foreclosure.com has recently announced it will be extending its Foreclosure.com scholarship program for another year. The 2012 installment of the scholarship program will reward five students with money to help fund their college education. The winners will be selected based on their response to an essay topic.
This year’s subject of the Foreclosure.com Scholarship Program is, “What creative solutions, programs and/or initiatives to stimulate the U.S. housing market, as well as to turn the foreclosures tide, must a presidential candidate outline/promise to earn your vote?” Students are encouraged to include their own original stimulus plan or ideas with their response.
Last year the scholarship program received almost 10,000 applications from students around the nation. The scholarship program expects to exceed that amount this year. All essays must be a minimum of 800 words and a maximum of 2,000 words. Interested students can submit their application and essay through the scholarship program’s website at www.foreclosure.com/scholarship. The deadline for entries is December 1, 2012.
Five winners will be selected by a third party panel of judges, and will split $9,000 in scholarship funds. The grand prize winner will receive $5,000 to use towards their college education while the other four winners will receive $1,000 each. In addition to receiving the scholarship money, each winning student’s essay will be posted on Foreclosure.com for the entire year, allowing all of the site’s visitors to view their creative solutions to our current housing market struggles.
The Foreclosure.com Scholarship Program has continued to grow year after year. Since its inception in 2009, the scholarship program has awarded fifteen scholarships to deserving students across the country for a total of $27,000. With the expected continued success of this scholarship program, Foreclosure.com anticipates seeing this scholarship grow even larger in the years to come.
