Florida Realtors Education Foundation Inc., a nonprofit organization created to provide real estate-related educational scholarships and grants, recently announced it is accepting applications for its Student Scholarship Program.  The Student Scholarship Program has been around for two years and has helped more than 150 students continue their education and prepare for a better future.  This scholarship program is a way for local realtors to give back to their community by supporting families struggling to pay for their children’s college education.  During the first two years of the program, more than $363,000 in college scholarships has been awarded.

The Student Scholarship Program is available to a wide variety of students including those whose parents are realtors or licensed real estate practitioners, or whose parents are employed by any local Realtor board, association, or by the Florida Realtors, as well as any student currently enrolled at a Florida school including home schools and charter schools.  Any student who meets the previous criteria and will be attending an undergraduate college or university; currently enrolled in an undergraduate course of study at a two-year or four-year college; or currently seeking a graduate degree is eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Scholarships handed out through this program will range from $1,000 to $4,000, with a maximum of $2,000 being awarded to a student studying at a two-year college.  Scholarship recipients will be determined based on academic achievement, financial need, relationship to the Realtor family, and contributions to family, school, and community.  The winners will be selected by the Florida Realtors board of directors.

Students interested in applying for one of these scholarships have until February 28th, 2012 to submit their application.  Further guidelines, procedures and the application form can be found on the organization’s website at www.floridarealtors.org/AboutFar/Scholarships/index.cfm.
