Dearborn Community Foundation, Inc., located in Lawrenceburg, Ind., has recently announced it will award two college scholarships to area students. The scholarships, known as the Ivy Tech Community College Scholarship and the Clifford & Gladys Ellerbrook Ender Nursing Scholarship, were created to help students of Dearborn County obtain a college education without causing them to suffer too much financially.
Specifically, the Ivy Tech Community College Scholarship was created to encourage Dearborn County students to obtain their college education locally. The scholarship program will award $800 to students who are continuing their education at Ivy Tech Community College. The scholarship money can be used to pay for tuition and books.
The Ellerbrook Ender Nursing Scholarship was created with the end goal of ensuring the nursing needs of Dearborn and Ohio county residents are met. With the population growing older, the need for qualified nurses in these areas is increasing. The Ellerbrook Ender Nursing Scholarship will help ensure an influx of new, qualified nurses into the local area. This particular scholarship is worth up to $5,000.
Applications are now available for both scholarships and can be picked up at the Dearborn Community Foundation office at 322 Walnut Street, Lawrenceburg, IN or on the Foundation’s website at www.dearborncf.org. If any applicants download the form from the Foundation’s website, they must mail or drop it off along with all of the other required information at the Foundation’s office. Students have until 4 PM on Monday, October 22, 2012 to submit their applications in order to be considered for either of the two college scholarships. More information about the scholarships can be found on the website mentioned above or by calling 812-539-4115.
