Best Buy to Donate More Than $1 Million in College Scholarships

Best Buy Co., Inc. recently announced it will be launching the Best Buy Scholarship Program for another year in 2012.  The scholarship program rewards students who demonstrate excellence in academic achievement, volunteer efforts, and work experience with the opportunity to receive a $1,000 scholarship that they can use to towards their college education.  Best Buy plans to donate up to 1,200 scholarships to students in grades 9-12 living in the U.S. and Puerto Rico who plan to enter a full-time undergraduate course of study as soon as they complete their high school education.

These scholarships are a part of Best Buy’s Children Foundation that focuses on helping teen students prepare for a brighter future by providing them when money for their college education.  Students have until February 15th, 2012 to submit their application for the latest round of scholarships.  Applications can be found online at www. bestbuy-communityrelations.com.

Since the scholarship program’s inception in 1999, Best Buy has donated nearly $20 million in college scholarships to more than 15,000 students.  Best Buy feels that by providing students with additional money to help them afford a college education that these students will be able to move on to bigger and better things in their lives.  Gaining access to a higher education will allow students to engage their communities and develop leadership skills which will result in a better future.
